Dancer and teacher. Born in Germany and immigrated with her family to Israel. At a young age, she began studying classical ballet with Mia Arbatova and dance with Gertrud Kraus. Throughout the 1950s she danced with Kraus’s company and performed in productions by the Israeli Opera and Habima Theater. She also took part in Talley Beatty’s summer course and danced in his Fire in the Mountains (1951). In addition, she studied with Rina Shaham, Naomi Aleskovski and Rena Gluck. With the help of a scholarship from Batsheva de Rothschild and a partial scholarship from Juilliard, she left in 1958 for New York, where she studied with Martha Graham, Antony Tudor and Louis Horst, and also participated in Habima’s classic production of The Dybbuk in Broadway.
In 1963, Batsheva de Rothschild invited her to join the founding members of Batsheva, together with other Israeli dancers who studied in New York at the time, including Oshra Elkayam Ronen and Shimon Levi. In the following years, she danced in Daughters of the Garden, Celebrants, Fun & Fancy, Herodiade, The Learning Process, A Rehearsal of Evil (1964); The Mythical Hunters, Tent of Visions, Sargasso, Diversion of Angels (1965); Psalms, The Betrothal (1966); Blind Man’s Buff (1967). In 1967, she left Batsheva for Bat-Dor, where she both danced and taught. In the early 1970s she moved to Canada and began a teaching career at the Toronto Dance Theatre and York University in Toronto, as well as the dance schools of Juilliard, Alvin Ailey, New Dance Group, Interlochen Center of the Arts un Michigan and Ohio University. She also served as rehearsal manager in the Pearl Lang Dance Company, a guest teacher in the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and a co-artistic director at the Inbal Dance Theater in 1983-1985.
