Anthony (Danny) Binstead was born in 1943 in Haifa.
The son of Miriam Bat Artzi, one of the first Ballet teachers in Haifa. he won a special scholarship at age 12 and went to study ballet at the Royal Academy of Dance and the Kent School of Dance. In the early 1960s, he rejected an offer to dance with the Royal Ballet and returned to Israel to serve in the IDF. Upon his discharge in 1965, he joined Batsheva and danced with the company until 1967. His performances included The Mythical Hunters, Sargasso, Nocturne (1965); Psalms (1966); Rehearsal!… (?) (1968). Binstead also designed the costumes for The Mythical Hunters (1965), The Road of the Phoebe Snow (1968).
Upon leaving Batsheva, Binstead moved again to London and thanks to a scholarship provided by WIZO President Rivka Ziv he studied and performed with the Royal Ballet. Upon his return to Israel, he danced with Shimon Braun’s Jazz Plus Company and Yonatan Carmon’s company, as well as in Giora Godik’s musical theater productions, where he also choreographed the jazz scenes in Jumbo. In 1973, he moved with his wife, actress Germaine Unikovsky, to Holland and later to Belgium. In 1994 they returned to Israel and ever since then he has been a designer of jewelry and Judaica, as well as a skipper.
