Debi Smulian
Born in London, Smulian began her ballet studies as a child. In 1965, she took a modern ballet class with Martha Graham. She moved to Israel in 1967 and danced with Bat-Dor Dance Company.
In 1972, Smulian joined Batsheva and danced in several pieces, including Dome of Heaven (1973); Puppets of Death, Taltela, Dream (1974); Apocalypse, The Games We Play (1975); Album Leaves (1976); The Garden of Kali, Mountain of Spices, Fantasia, Rainbow Round My Shoulder (1977); Dreams, Scenes from the Music of Charles Ives, and 3am (1978); and Stravinsky Dance Circus (1979).
Smulian left Batsheva in 1980 and moved to the US, where she works as a dance therapist in Boston and New York.
