Ella Rothschild

Born in 1984 in Moshav Ein-Vered, she began studying ballet at the Kfar Saba Conservatory of Music and Dance in 1995, and continued her training there until 2002. She studied in the Kfar Saba high school dance program in 1999-2002. In 2006-10 she studied Ohad Naharin’s Gaga dance language.

Rothschild began her professional career as a dancer in the Inbal Pinto & Avshalom Pollak Dance Company, where she was a member in 2002-2006. She danced in Oyster (1999), Boobies (2002), and Wrapped (1998). She also took part in the following works as a creative dancer: What Good Would the Moon Be (2004), Shaker (2006). She also performed in Goldfish (2012) and was assistant choreographer.

Rothschild was admitted to Batsheva Ensemble in 2006 and danced with it until 2008. She was a member of the original cast of Seder (2007), and also danced in Zachacha (1998), Decadance (2000), Kamuyot (2003), Telophaza (2006). She was subsequently admitted to Batsheva Company where she danced in 2008-10. She was part of the original cast of Hora (2009) Bill (2010), and also danced in Anaphase (1993), Decadance (2000), Mamootot (2003), Three (2005), Furo (2006), MAX (2007), Project 5 (2008).

Rothschild has been choreographing for theater plays such as Jaffa’s Gypsies (2014) at Khan Theater, as well as creating independent dance and site-specific performances, such as Homunculus (2012). She teaches Naharin’s Gaga as well as ballet and hip-hop at Clore Center for Music and Dance in Kibbutz Kfar Blum. In 2013, she created the solo Acord, performed in Hachanut Gallery Theater and in Batsheva Hosts.
