Born in Haifa. Esther moved with her family to Kibbutz Ramat HaKovesh at an early age. She began her dance training with Arie Kalev at age 17, and during her military service continued with Rina Schenfeld. Later, she went on to study with Hillel Markman and Gertrud Kraus, and in the Batsheva Studio and Bat-Dor Studio, with Jeannette Ordman.
In 1969, Nadler joined Batsheva and performed in Baroque Concerto No. 5 (1969); Percussion Concerto and Time for Waiting (1970); Ami-Yam Ami-Ya’ar (Song of My People – Forest People), Caprichos, Pace & Step Together (1971); Divertissements (1972); Friendship, Corners (1973); Journey to Nowhere, Puppets of Death, Taltela, Dream, Cell (1974). In 1975 she received a scholarship from John Cranko and spent one year training with the Stuttgart Ballet. Upon her return to Israel she rejoined Batsheva and participated in another work, The Great Variation (1977), after which she announced her retirement from the company.
After leaving Batsheva, Nadler joined Moshe Efrati’s Kol Demama (“sound of silence”). Later on, she was appointed as the company’s rehearsal manager, teacher and assistant director, a position she held until the company was closed in 2001.
Nadler has an MA with honors in philosophy from Tel Aviv University. Her thesis discussed the concepts of representation and artistic representation in Walter Benjamin’s thought. Nadler gives enrichment lectures in the Dance Library of Israel, continues to teach classical ballet and is a member of various Ministry of Education committees in the dance area.
