Haim Ohn was born in 1956 in Herzliya.
Ohn was the goalkeeper of the Hapoel Herzliya football team. After his discharge from military service, he studied Jazz dance with the pantomime artist and dancer Jacob (Juki) Arkin, and later with Micha Ness. He joined Batsheva in 1979. At first, he danced with Batsheva 2 under Nira Paaz, and later with Batsheva Dance Company, where he became a principal dancer until 1993, and also won the Kinor David Award. Among other things, he participated in the following dance pieces: Nympheas, Haru No Umi, Rhapsody (1980); Devil People (1981); Noces (1982); Autumn, Clowns & Other Fools (1983); A Catch, Allegro Barbaro (1984); Suite en bleu, Brandenburg Dance No. 4, Danzon Cubano (1985); Tabula Rasa, Taken to Pieces, Cantata 78/Every Waking Hour (1988); In the Garden, You Gotta Move (1989); KYR (1990).
In 1983 he tried his hand at choreography in the Batsheva dance piece Touches, where he also danced and designed the stage. At the same time, he created a company of young dancers sponsored by the Herzliya Municipality. When he left Batsheva he joined the Manhattan Ballet Company. Upon returning to Israel, he established an independent dance company which produced three performances, as well as a dance studio in Hod Hasharon.
Ohn currently coordinates the dance programs of the Ostrovsky High School in Raanana and the Begin High School in Rosh Ha’ayin. In addition, he plays and trains tennis and is rated as first for his age in Israel and 57 in the world. His daughter, Daniel Ohn, has been dancing in the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company since 2005.
