Inbal Yaakobi

Inbal Yaakobi was born in 1978 in Israel.

She is a graduate of the dance program at the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts and the Bat-Dor School of Dance.

She joined the Batsheva Ensemble in 1996 and the Batsheva Dance Company in 1998.

Since 2004, she has performed in projects by independent choreographers, including Sharon Zuckerman, Yasmeen Godder, Renana Raz, Hillel Kogan, and Nava Frankel.

In 2005, in collaboration with dance creators, she initiated and established the Dancers’ Department at IUPA (the Israeli Union of Performing Artists), which for the first time set and regulated employment conditions for professional dancers in Israel, providing professional support with close legal accompaniment. In 2007, she began studying law at the College of Management, graduating with honors. She later worked as a prosecutor at the Tel Aviv District Attorney’s Office.

In 2010, she co-founded the online magazine Ma’akef, which explored in-depth issues in the performing arts, together with Ran Brown, the journal’s founder, Lior Avizur, Hillel Kogan, and Gai Gutman.In 2011, together with Shani Granot and Sharon Zuckerman, she founded and managed the non-profit organization Solelot – A Guesthouse for Creative Processes in Dance, which worked to provide rehearsal spaces and artistic guidance for independent choreographers. As part of Solelot, she curated and produced Idea in Sight—a unique format showcasing ideas from various dance artists.

In 2013, she was invited, along with creator Rotem Tashach, to serve as the artistic director of the Intimadance Festival. Between 2014 and 2015, she worked as the CEO of IUPA. In 2016, she returned to Batsheva Dance Company as the right-hand to the company’s CEO. In 2022, she was appointed as the Director of the company’s educational programs.
