Orit Keinan (Vitori) was born in 1957 in Kibbutz Shamir.
Keinan started studying dance at age 14 in the Tel-Hai Dance Studio, as well as with Rina Shaham. When she relocated to Peru with her family, she continued her dance training with private teachers. Upon her return to Israel she enlisted in the IDF, and after her discharge began dancing in the Bat-Dor Studio, was admitted to Batsheva 2 and danced in all the repertoire pieces of the young company.
Keinan joined Batsheva in 1979 and remained in the company until 1993. Over the years, she was appointed as the company’s rehearsal manager. Her dances with the company include Stravinsky Dance Circus, Recollections of a People (1979); Images, Rhapsody, Cantigas (1980); Radius, Testimony, Haru No Omi (1981); Inostress (1983); Tabula Rasa (1987); What’s Left (1990); Queens of Golub (1991); Stopping Jordan (1992).
Keinan taught modern dance and performed with David Dvir in a program designed to popularize dance for young audiences. Today she concentrates on physical therapy in the Yantra Yoga approach.
