Pamela Sharni
Born in the US, she danced in the Ohio University Dance Company and various performances for children. In 1968, she immigrated to Israel and danced in Giora Godik musicals, including Hello, Dolly! and My Fair Lady.
In 1969, Sharni joined Batsheva and danced in Baroque Concerto No. 5 (1969); Percussion Concerto and Time for Waiting (1970); Martha’s Vineyard, Song of My People / Ami-Yam Ami-Ya’ar, Caprichos, and Pace & Step Together (1971); Divertissements in the Play Ground of the Zodiac and Three out of Me (1972); Friendship (1973); Dream (1974); Apocalypse, Trek, The Games We Play (1975); Album Leaves (1976); Rooms (1977); Dreams, Scenes from the Music of Charles Ives (1978); Stravinsky Dance Circus, and Wilderness, Swamps and Forest (1979).
In 1980, Sharni left Batsheva and began choreographing. She performed in the Acco Fringe Theater Festival and Israel Festival. In the mid-80s she moved back to the US and continued to choreograph dances.
Sharni taught dance at Kenyon College, Ohio, and at Ohio State University, and currently teaches the Trager Approach of contact and movement therapy and works as a medical masseuse.
