Yaniv Nagar was born in 1971 in Tel Aviv.
Yaniv began his dance studies at the Beit Danny Community Center under the direction of Batya and Ofra Hanoon. In 1987 he studied in the first class of the dance program at the Thelma Yellin High School, headed by Neta Blumenthal at the time. He won recognition as an excelling dancer by the IDF and received a scholarship from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. In 1987-92, he studied at the Bat-Dor Dance School under Jeannette Ordman and Rose Sobel. In 1992-96, he danced in Les Ballets de Monte Carlo under Jean-Christophe Maillot’s artistic direction.
In 1996, he joined Batsheva as a dancer under Ohad Naharin’s artistic direction. His dances with the company included Yag (1996), Sabotage Baby (1997), Hamsin 98 (1998), Moshe (1999), and Virus (2001).
In 2002 Nagar retired from dancing and became Batsheva’s company and stage manager. In this capacity, he established Batsheva’s Creative Dancers events, which he continues to produce to this day.
Nagar won the 2007 Yair Shapira Award for his contribution to dance in Israel.
