“Artistic differences”

“Artistic differences”

“I ran the Ensemble along with Ohad for four years, and in spite of the artistic differences which were related to a different orientation, there were professional support and great trust that yielded artistic variety and special projects. I ran three video dance projects, in which young Israeli artists from dance and cinema, such as Gabriel Bibliowicz, Lara Barsacq and others participated, and institutional collaborations of the Ensemble with Camera Obscura Film School, and the Tel Aviv University Film Department. I invited New York video artist, Burt Barr, who brought his own knowledge from his collaboration with choreographer Trisha Brown. He came with us for a shooting in the Negev and Mitzpe Ramon, and enlightened us, drawing our attention to the cinematic aspects as well as to content.

I invited Angelin Preljocaj, whom I still work today, who worked with the ensemble on White Tears which was being performed at Suzanne Dellal. It was the first time his work was performed in Israel, and it opened the dancers and the audience to a new world of images, a different style, restrained with an precise syntax, and processing movement sentences, by precising and developing revelations of sensuality, which comes from restraint and not from an energetic outburst and infinite freedom.”
