“Six tons of equipment”

“Six tons of equipment”

“The first tour was to Cyprus for three weeks. We stayed at the Ledra Hotel which was a Greek hotel inside the Turkish Quarter, the hotel was surrounded by a fence, and when we played mini-golf the balls would pass on to the other side, the Turkish side. We went with all the equipment: sets, electricity, costumes. Six tons of equipment. The performance was supposed to be in an amphi theater. We were told there was a stage in the amphi theater, but when we arrived we found a field of thorns covering the stage. The first reaction was that we would have to cancel the shows and go back to Israel, but in the end we brought workers who cleaned the area within a week, spread the linoleum ourselves, and improvised while raising everything: the coulisses and fabrics. Everything looked ready, but when the performance started there was a crazy wind and all the fabrics started flying. Ask the dancers.”
