“Waves of inspiration”

“Waves of inspiration”

“I saw Martha Graham performing at Heichal Hatarbut, there was electricity in the air, waves of inspiration, the feeling that something great was taking place. Arie Kalev, who was my teacher from a young age, took me backstage, where I saw a made-up, unreal image with a chignon that left a tremendous impression on me. That was the moment I knew I wanted to be accepted to Batsheva’s reserves, the ‘aspirants’. After two years as a reserve I was supposed to be drafted to the IDF. So Batsheva de Rothschild assisted by Ora Herzog, who was Manager of the Public Council of Culture and Art, and company manager Francois Schapira, turned to the IDF in order to suspend the service. The IDF postponed the draft date by a year and I joined the Company.”
